Weekly Update 18-24 Oct 18 – Halloween Party

Here are the updates for the week:
Friday: Drill Team 1800 – 1900, followed by Band from 1900 to 2130 at the armoury

Sunday: Biathlon, Marksmanship, and Flight Simulation – 1800 to 2100 at the armoury (Note that RC Flying and Model Building will be starting soon)

Monday: Ground school from 1830 to 2030 at Simonds High School

Wednesday: Halloween Party with 527 RCACS. Meet at Simonds High School from 1830 – 2100 hrs. Go in to pool entrance (next to the football field). Dress is costume (no full face masks).

Annual Validation and Detailed Medical Forms – All returning cadets must bring back these forms ASAP.

Upcoming events:

– 26-28 Oct 18 – Gagetown Band Seminar. Cadets will be meeting at the armoury on Friday evening at 1830 hrs. The bus will be departing at 1900 hrs. Dress for the event will be uniform (t-shirt and tunic with parka). Cadets need to bring the following:

  • Pyjamas
  • Toiletries/personal hygeine items
  • Towel/facecloth
  • Shower sandals
  • Instrument
  • Music folder/pencil
  • Water bottle
  • Civilian clothing for Saturday evening/Sunday (including shoes)
  • Cadet parka

Cadets will be staying the the barracks at Argonaut CTC. All meals will be provided. Cadets will be returning home on Sunday around 1600 hrs.

– 31 Oct 18 – No training – Happy Halloween

– Poppy Campaign (various dates) – please sign up for a shift

– 10 Nov 18 – Level training weekend, this is for Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 cadets. More information will be going out soon
– 11 Nov 18 – Remembrance Day, we will be attending the service in Grand Bay-Westfield.

Cadets starts up this week – Wednesday 5 Sep 18

This is just a short note to let you know that cadets will be starting up for the new training year this week.

Wednesday 5 Sep 18Regular training (6:20 PM – 9:10 PM) Dress is civilian clothing. If you need uniform parts exchanged, please bring them.

Saturday 8 Sep 18 – Sunday 9 Sep 18 Senior Cadet Training Weekend (8:00 AM Sat – 4:00 PM Sun). This activity is mandatory for all level cadets in levels four and five. Dress is civilian clothing. Meals will be provided. Bring a sleeping bag.

Wednesday 12 Sep 18Change of Command Parade/Training Night. Dress is full uniform (shirt, tie, and tunic). Guests are invited to watch the parade which will start at 7:00 PM.

This will be my final update as Commanding Officer as Capt Meunier is taking over for this training year. It has been a please being your CO and I look forward to seeing you at the Change of Command Parade.

Weekly Update 31 May – 6 Jun 18 (Field Training Exercise)

Congratulations to all of the cadets on their outstanding performance at the Annual Ceremonial Review last Sunday. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us.

This week:

Friday 1 Jun 18 – Sunday 3 Jun 18: Field Training Exercise – Mandatory training for all cadets. Meet at the training site on the Kingston Peninsula (about 1 km past Elmhurst Outdoors 65 Ganong Rd. Erbs Cove, NB) on Friday evening at 6:30 PM. Training will finish on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM.

The kit list for each cadet includes:
• Hiking boots (rubber boots and sneakers) –it may rain on Saturday so extra footwear would be a good idea
• Sleeping Bag (extras are available if cadets so not have their own)
• Sweater
• Toothbrush/ paste
• 4 – 6 pairs of socks (wool)
• Warm PJs
• Mittens/ gloves
• Warm pants (Three)
• Undergarments
• Deodorant
• Face cloth/Hand towel
• Soap/hand sanitizer
• Rain Coat
• Reusable plastic/metal cup
• Toque
• Female personal hygiene items
• Flashlight
• Warm Jacket

Cadets are not permitted to bring:
• Knives
• Electronics (mp3/cd players, gaming systems, cell phones etc)
• Weapons
• Lighters
• Illegal substances, alcohol, or cigarettes
• Make-up
• Pets (dogs, cats, etc)

Wednesday 5 Jun 18 – 7:00 PM: Summer Training Information Session for all cadets selected for summer training and their parent/guardian. Cadets will receive joining instructions for their summer courses and will be issued or sized for clothing required for the CTC. Dress is civilian clothing.

6:30 PM: Sponsoring Committee meeting – Anyone wishing to join the sponsoring committee for next training year is invited to attend the meeting. Elections will be held for various executive positions.

BOTTLE DRIVE: We are looking for volunteers with trucks or trailers that can help us out at our spring bottle drive scheduled for 9 Jun 18. If you have a vehicle that you are able to use to help us collect bottle, please let us know.

This is our Annual Ceremonial Review weekend so here are the updates:

Friday 25 May 18
6:00 – 7:00 PM – Drill Team practice at the armoury
7:00 – 9:30 PM – Band practice at the armoury

Saturday 26 May 18
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM: ACR Practice and Set-up. All cadets should be in attendance. Bring a lunch and water bottle. Bring anything you need for displays.

Sunday 27 May 18
9:00 AM – 4:00PM: Annual Ceremonial Review – Cadets should arrive at 9:00 AM for set-up and practice. Bring a lunch and water.
Parents and guests attending the ceremony are asked to be at the armoury by 1:30 PM.
Parents are asked to bring sweets, sandwiches, or a tray (fruit/veggie/cheese). The parent/sponsoring committee will be calling parents with more details about it. Thanks again to all the parents for their support.

Wednesday 30 May 18
Sports Night: 6:20 – 9:10 PM – Dress is sports gear.

ACR Prep: 6:20 – 9:10 PM – Dress is civilian clothing. All cadets must bring their boots with polishing kits and their full uniform on a hanger (in a bag). Cadets should ensure they wash their uniforms. All cadets should have proper hair cuts. Band must bring their instruments. Cadets should bring anything they need to work on ACR displays.

Drill Team and Band Canceled – Check back for Updates on Sand Bagging at 6:00 PM

We are canceling drill team and band for this evening.
We are looking into helping with sand bagging. Right now they have sufficient sand bags and don’t need our help but we will confirm again at 6:00 PM and will update the page at that time to let everyone know.

Weekly Update (19-25 Apr 18) Band and Drill Competition

Here is this week’s update:

Friday 20 Apr 18
Drill Team – 6:00-7:00 PM at the armoury
Band – 7:00 – 9:30 PM at the armoury (Those assisting with props are asked to attend)

Saturday 21 Apr 18
Provincial Band and Drill Competition – Cadets will meet at the armoury at 6:20 AM. Dress is full uniform, shirt, tie and tunic with Cadet parka. Cadets will be transported to the competition site in Gagetown by bus. Lunch and supper will be provided (box lunches) but cadets are encouraged to bring a water bottle. Cadets are expected to depart Gagetown at 5:00 PM and return to Saint John around 6:30 PM. We will have cadets call when they are on their way home. Anyone wishing to watch the competition is welcome to meet us at L-33 at CFB Gagetown. To get to Bldg L-33: Enter the main gate of the base (Tilley Ave) and go to the end of the street. Turn right onto Ganong St. L-33 will be the first large building on the left. There should be lots of busses and potentially cadets in front of the building. The competition begins at 8:00 AM. Our band will likely perform after 9:00 AM based on the current order.
