Drill Team: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the armoury. Dress is civilian clothing. New members are welcome.

Band: 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM at the armoury. Dress is civilian clothing. Bring your music.

Sunday 3 Dec 17
Level 5 Instructional Techniques PD Session: 1:30 – 4:30 PM at the armoury. Dress is civilian clothing. All instructors should bring their books and anything they want to use for lesson planning. Please return your computer usage forms.

Biathlon, Marksmanship, and Flight Simulation: 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Wednesday 6 Dec 17
Regular Training – 6:20 – 9:10 PM at the armoury. Dress is t-shirt and tunic. All 50/50 tickets/money needs to be returned!

Sponsoring Committee Meeting – 6:30 PM at the armoury (trailer classroom). New members welcome. We are actively looking for more parent and community volunteers to help support our squadron.

Fund Raising – Cadets were given a book of six 50/50 tickets to sell as part of our next fund raiser. The tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Tickets must be returned by this coming Wednesday, December 6th.

Badges – Several cadets have been recently promoted or have received new qualification badges. Please ensure these are sewn on in the correct place with the proper coloured thread (so as to blend with the badge). Congratulations to the biathlon team, band, and all of our cadets who received qualifications and promotions this past week. Great work!

Friday 24 Nov 17
Drill Team: No drill team this week.

Band Seminar: 6:30 PM – Cadets will be departing the armoury via bus for CFB Gagetown. Dress for travel is t-shirt and tunic with parka (wear a civilian coat if you do not have a cadet parka). Cadets will be wearing civilian clothing on Sunday. A complete kit list is attached. Meals will be provided by bring a water bottle, music, and your instrument. Cadets who are available should meet at the armoury around 6:10 PM to assist with loading the gear. We will be returning to the armoury on Sunday at approximately 4:30 PM. 161 Weekly Update 16-22 Nov 17 (Biathlon Competition & Santa Claus Parade)

Thanks again to all of our cadets for their participation in the various Remembrance Day events.

Here is the information for this week:

Friday 17 Nov 17
Drill Team: 6:00 – 7:00 PM. New members are welcome. Dress is civilian clothing.

Band: 7:00 – 9:30. Dress is civilian clothing. Bring any Christmas decorations that you would like to use to help decorate your instruments.

Saturday 18 Nov 17

Zone Biathlon Competition: Competitors are to meet at 8:00 AM and staff are to meet at 7:30 AM Samuel de Champlain School. Dress in layers as cadet will be outside for most of the day. Hats, mitts/gloves, and a jacket are required. Bring a water bottle. Lunch will be provided. Spectators are welcome. Cadets should be finished by 3:00 PM.

Saint John Santa Claus Parade: Meet at the Telegraph Journal Parking lot (corner of Crown St and the Causeway) for 4:30 PM. Dress for the parade is uniform with parka. Wear your winter coat if you do not have a cadet parka. We will have some extra parkas available for those that do not have one. If you have your own Santa hat, you may wear this with your uniform (if not, wear your cadet toque and we will lend you a hat). Cadets should wear black gloves or mittens. Band must be present with instruments. All cadets are encouraged to participate in this event. Participation is credited as community service hours. We are #18 in the parade line up. If you happen to show up late, we will be lining up on the Causeway. The parade ends in the North End. Cadets can be picked up in the parking lot near the Subway in the North End. Note: There are no washrooms on the parade route.

 

Sunday 19 Nov 17

Santa’s Arrival at McAllister Place: The band will be meeting at 1:30 PM at Mall Entrance #1 (between Lawtons and H&M). Dress is shirt, tie, and tunic. The band will be playing for Santa’s arrival. The cadet should be finished around 2:30 PM.

Marksmanship: 6:00 – 9:00 PM. Note that there will NOT be regular biathon practice this week. The flight simulator will also be available.

Thursday 9 Nov 17

Sea Dogs Hockey Game – Support the Troops Night – Meet at Harbour Station at 6:15 PM – Dress for the game is uniform (t-shirt and tunic). There are still 9 spaces available for any cadets who would like to attend.

Friday 10 Nov 17

Drill Team: 6:00 – 7:00 PM. New members are welcome. Dress is civilian clothing.

Band: 7:00 – 9:30. Dress is civilian clothing

Remembrance Day Dinner: Thank you to the three cadets who have volunteered to serve dinner (FSgt Wallace, Cpl Clark, and AC Mason). Cadets should meet at the Riverside Golf and Country Club at 6:00 PM. Dinner will be provided.

Saturday 11 Nov 17

Remembrance Day Parade: Mandatory for ALL cadets. Cadets are to meet at River Valley Middle School in Grand Bay (Epworth Park Drive – behind the rink) at 10:00 AM. Dress for the day is shirt, tie, and tunic. Cadets who do not have a uniform yet should wear a collared shirt/dressy clothes if possible. The parade should finish around noon. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend the parade.

Harbour Station Remembrance Day Ceremony: There are eight cadets who will be attending the ceremony at Harbour Station. These cadets are too meet at Harbour Station at 9:30 AM at the east end of the rink on the arena floor. Capt MacDonald will be the point of contact for this ceremony.

Biathlon: 6:00 – 9:00 PM. Note that there will NOT be regular marksmanship practice this week. This is the last biathlon practice prior to the zone competition.

Poppy Campaign: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (or 8:30 for Costco): Dress is uniform with shirt, tie, and tunic. Your supervisor will meet you at the location with the poppies. Schedule is attached. If you have any issues, please contact Capt Meunier.

Friday 3 Nov 17

Saturday 4 Nov 17

Poppy Campaign: Various shifts – see schedule. Contact Capt Meunier if you have any questions.
Teddy Bear Fair: Volunteer opportunity for cadets who are working on their DofE. 1691 Army Cadets are volunteering at the hospital all day and have opened it up to our DofE cadets. Contact Capt A. Phinney if you are interested.

Church Services (Grand Bay and KV): Various local churches have asked for cadets to participate in Sunday’s Remembrance Day service. Those who signed up can contact the staff member if charge if they have questions. Dress is shirt, tie, and tunic.
Marksmanship and Biathlon: 6:00 – 9:00 PM. Dress is civilian clothing

Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing Candlelight Vigil: 6:15 – 8:15 PM at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing (422 Bay St, Saint John, NB E2M 7L4). There will be refreshments and time to speak with the veterans following the ceremony. Dress is shirt, tie, and tunic. We are encouraging any cadets who are available to attend this ceremony.

Wednesday 8 Nov 17

Sports Night – Dress is sports gear.

Parent Open House/Information Session – 6:30 – 7:00 PM – The Commanding Officer will be available to meet with parents to discuss what the mandatory training program entails, what optional training options the squadron has for cadets, summer training opportunities (camp), and how you can help. If you have any questions or just want to find out more about the program or policies, please come in. We will be in the portable classroom (trailer outside the armoury).

  • Thursday 9 Nov 17 – Sea Dogs Game – There are 23 tickets available for cadets to attend the Support the Troops Game. Cadets who have signed up for the poppy campaign have to opportunity to attend this game. Please let Capt A. Phinney know or sign up on the the bulletin board for the game.

  • Saturday 11 Nov 17 – Remembrance Day Parades (mandatory for all cadets).
