Weekly Update 1-7 Jun 17 ACR

Here are the updates for the week:


ACR Set-up/Training Day: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the Lord Beaverbrook Arena. Dress is civilian clothing. Bring anything you may need for displays, a water bottle, and a lunch. Band must bring their instruments. We will be loading equipment into vehicles at the armoury at 8:00 AM. We could use a few cadets to assist.

ACR Practice/Prep: 9:00 AM – Bring a water bottle, lunch, and your full uniform on a hanger and covered (boots, wool socks, pants, belt, dress shirt, tunic, tie, wedge, nametag, 75th pin). Parents are asked to bring sandwiches, sweets, fruit/cheese/veggie trays for the reception. These can be dropped off in the morning or just prior to the parade.
1:30 PM – Annual Ceremonial Review: Guest and parents should begin to arrive. The arrival of the Reviewing Officer is at 2:00 PM but the parade will fall in prior to this. All are welcome.
All cadets are expected to help clean-up after the parade.

6:30 PM – Information Session for all cadets and parents of those cadets attending summer training. We will be meeting in the trailer classroom closest to the road. Dress is civilian clothing.

Upcoming Events/Deadlines:
– 15-17 Jun 17 – Rib Fest Fund Raiser/Community Service
– 18 Jun 17 – Helicopter Familiarization Flights

Badge Placement: Note that some cadets were told to fix their badges. The information can be found on the website as “updated badge placement”.
Please ensure all cadets have appropriate hair cuts for ACR.

Current Level 3s and Above:
Parade position applications were handed out last night and are available on the squadron website. These applications for next training year must be handed in prior to this year’s ACR (June 4).

Note: On Saturday, June 3rd there will be a 75th anniversary reception for all 161 squadron alumni (former cadets, staff, parents, sponsors, or anyone with any affiliation to the squadron). Tickets are $25 and are available from the squadron office or online. Visit our website at to purchase tickets, memorabilia, or find out more information about what is happening at 161. There are still a few tickets available.

Reminder: If a cadet cannot make it to a Wednesday night/regular event, the cadet should leave a message on the squadron answering machine 632-3215. Please do not e-mail Capt Phinney or post on facebook. This will ensure the admin o gets the message and can mark the cadet as excused.
