The April ZOOM meeting of the Turnbull (NB) Chapter will take place on Saturday, 24 April 2021 at 2:00 pm (Atlantic Daylight Time). The meeting is FREE and open to members of Turnbull and our national CAHS, air cadets and the public. Our speaker is military re-enactor Matt Heintz. His topic will be the Air Cadet history of Canada, with an emphasis on the uniforms and badges worn by cadets since the Second World War. Matt is a former cadet with 191 West Winnipeg Squadron. He was a member from 1998 to 2004. He began collecting shoulder flashes during his last year at summer camp at Penhold. He traded chocolate bars for badges and ended the summer with about 350 badges. The summer of chocolate for badges began his interest in collecting the old uniforms and badges, not only of the Air Cadets across Canada but also of the RCAF. Since 2016 Matt has been involved with 575 Terrier Squadron. Second Lieutenant Heintz is currently the Squadron’s Training Officer.
