– CADETS ARE WELCOME TO BRING THEIR OWN NUT FREE SNACKS

Cadets are to wear weather appropriate clothing and bring their sports clothing with them. Cadets are to bring appropriate sports gear, including sweatpants, appropriate shorts, T-shirts, sweaters. No tank tops & no tight fitting clothing.

Please bring your own reusable water bottles as Water bottles will not be provided. There is a water fill station at the armouries.

The badminton & marksmanship teams are listed below. The other teams will be made up from the cadets who signed up.

FUNDRAISING

Cadets is 100% FREE program for teens – but the training and activities we have are not free. We are asking our cadets and their families to help out with a fundraiser called “Grand in your Hand” Cadets will be selling tickets on a chance to win $1000 – Tickets are $10 each – Draw Date is April 16, 2025 and you can contact Krista.feltmate@161aircadets.ca for tickets. This is a joint fundraiser with 4 other cadet units. All funds raised by our cadets STAYS AT 161. Please make sure the unit number 161 Air Cadets & Sellers name (cadets name) are written on the ticket as there will be a prize for the seller of the winning ticket.

Cadets will get their name entered into a draw for every 5 tickets they sell.

Each cadet that attended last night was given at least 1 book of 5 tickets. If you need more tickets please contact Krista Feltmate at Krista.feltmate@161aircadets.ca

During the Sports night – We will be having a play off to determine Badminton Teams for the Sports Competition. We have had a lot of cadets sign up for Badminton at the Sports Competition- unfortunately there is not enough room for everyone to play. Teams for the Sports Competition will be posted on 27-Feb-2025.

The Following Cadets HAVE signed up for the Tri-Service sports competition

A Parent or Guardian for each cadet of 161 are STRONGLY ENCOURANGED TO ATTEND the Parents meeting on Wednesday 26-Feb-2025 from 1830-1930hrs

On average over 85% of parents/guardians do not show up for these meetings.

Cadets is a free to you program however the training & activities we do are NOT free. We need parent/guardian involvement to assist with fundraising needs. We have a parent led sponsoring committee that requires the help of parents/guardians a few times a year.

161 Air Cadets has grown to over 70 cadets. Your support is required to keep this program alive.

Cadets must sign up to participate. Sign Up Deadline is 24-Feb-2025. Lunch is provided and Cadet numbers & dietary restrictions must be submitted by Capt Hutchinson to the Caterer on 25-Feb-2025. Cadets with Dietary Restrictions/Needs must notify Capt Hutchinson no later than 24-Feb-2025

Cadets who Sign up for the Sports Competition MUST ATTEND! If cadets sign up and do not attend the competition they will not be allowed to attend the next optional cadet activity.

There is limited space for each activity. On Wednesday 26-Feb-2025 we will be having Sports Night to help prepare for the Competition. We will also be hosting a Badminton Play Off to determine who will be on the Badminton Team for the Sports Competition.

Teams will be posted on 27-Feb-2025 as to which cadets will be competiting.

We are still looking for cadets to participate in the Minute to Win It Games. These are fun tabloid games where each cadets has a minute to complete the task. Sports Competition Sign Up is now open, you can email Capt J Hutchinson at julia.hutchinson@cadets.gc.ca Sports will include Basketball, Volleyball, Marksmanship, Badminton, Tug of War, Minute to Win It Games & Hit the Deck. Cadets who do not wish to participate in the activities but would like to come cheer on our Unit please let Capt J Hutchinson know. Sign up is open until 23-Feb-2025. Only Cadets who attend Regular Training Nights ON A REGULAR BASIS will be allowed to sign up for the competition. There are a limited number of spots for each activity.
