Cadet Biathlon Program

Biathlon is a sport that combines 2 activities such as Skiing & Shooting or Running & Shooting. In NB/PE the Biathlon Competitions are held at 2 levels. Zone Competition (April 2026) where units from our Zone (Sussex to St. Stephen) compete to move onto Provincials(June 2026). In NB/PE we compete with a Run & Shoot.

The cadet biathlon program gives all cadets the chance to participate in a progressive activity that builds fitness, supports marksmanship training, promotes safe rifle handling, develops qualified coaches and officials, and encourages continued involvement in the Canadian Cadet Organizations.

The program includes two parts:

  • Recreational: Basic fitness combined with introductory air rifle marksmanship at the local corps or squadron level.
  • Competitive: Progressive individual and team competitions at the local, zone, provincial, and national levels.

Social Return on Investment (SROI) surveys for the Cadet and Junior Canadian Ranger (CJCR) Programs

The goal is to capture clear, measurable insights into the programs’ social, community, and economic impact. These results will help inform future decisions, resource allocation, and program development across CJCR Group. This work is also part of CJCR Group’s broader effort to produce a formal research publication that highlights the Social Return on Investment and overall value proposition of the youth programs — something we know will be of strong interest to members and supporters of the program.

How can you help?

•             Share the survey widely through your networks and partner communities (alumni lists, newsletters, websites, social media, and local announcements).

•             Encourage participation from:

  • Current and former cadets
  • Parents of current and former participants; and
  • Program leaders (COATS, Civilian Instructors, and CAF and League volunteers)

Thank you for your cooperation!

FRIDAY -16-JAN-2026 BAND OPEN HOUSE

All Cadets welcome! 1830-2030hrs – Come and learn more about our program. At the beginning of the training year, our primary focus was preparing for the Remembrance Day and Christmas parades. With the parade season now complete, we are transitioning to theory instruction, evaluations, and the preparation of our display for the Annual Ceremonial Review.

Our Military Marching Band is a percussion ensemble, consisting of snare drums, cymbals, tenor (quad) drums, bass drums, and glockenspiels. All cadets participate in both theory and practical instruction and are provided opportunities to be assessed in music theory and performance. Upon successfully achieving the required level in both theory and playing, cadets are awarded a musician level badge to be worn on their blue uniform.
