FRIDAY -16-JAN-2026 BAND OPEN HOUSE

All Cadets welcome! 1830-2030hrs – Come and learn more about our program. At the beginning of the training year, our primary focus was preparing for the Remembrance Day and Christmas parades. With the parade season now complete, we are transitioning to theory instruction, evaluations, and the preparation of our display for the Annual Ceremonial Review.

Our Military Marching Band is a percussion ensemble, consisting of snare drums, cymbals, tenor (quad) drums, bass drums, and glockenspiels. All cadets participate in both theory and practical instruction and are provided opportunities to be assessed in music theory and performance. Upon successfully achieving the required level in both theory and playing, cadets are awarded a musician level badge to be worn on their blue uniform.

Throughout the training year, virtual theory classes may also be offered. In addition, cadets may have the opportunity to attend a music workshop weekend to further develop their skills.

SATURDAY 17-JAN-2026 SUPPLY CLEAN OUT – 1000-1600hrs – Civillian Clothes – Lunch Provided – Cadets who signed up to help are: FCpl Johnston, Sgt Perry, FSgt Feltmate, FSgt Munn, WO2 Dickeson

No Summer Training for Level 1 Cadets

Introduction to Marksmanship – 2 week Course – Location Argonaut CTC – The Introduction to Marksmanship Course enables cadets to acquire specialized skills and knowledge in marksmanship, facilitating their participation in zone and regional marksmanship competitions. It equips them to mentor junior cadets in marksmanship while advancing the skills learned in the program

Introduction to Drill & Ceremonial – 2 week Course – Location Argonaut CTC – The Introduction to Drill and Ceremonial Course engages cadets with the chance to enhance their leadership abilities and deepen their knowledge and skills in drill and ceremonial practices acquired in the program.

Introduction to Fitness & Sports – 2 week Course – Location Greenwood CTC – The Introduction to Fitness and Sports Course offers cadets a chance to refine skills acquired in the Corps / Squadron Program, aiding in fitness and sports training within the Corps / Squadron Program. Additionally, participants learn about embracing a healthy lifestyle.

Introduction to Military Band – 2 week Course – Location Argonaut CTC – Must be a member of your Unit’s Band – The Introduction to Military Band Course allows cadets to continue honing their understanding and proficiency in music, drill, ceremonial practices, and leadership skills acquired through the corps / squadron program or regional activities.

Aviation Technology & Aerospace – 2 week Course – Location Greenwood CTC -The Aviation Technology and Aerospace Course offers cadets the chance to lay the groundwork in aerospace studies, airport operations, and the principles of aircraft manufacturing and maintenance. Activities within this program encompass exploring aerospace concepts, learning about aerodrome operations, and gaining insight into aircraft manufacturing and maintenance processes.

Introduction to Survival – 2 week Course – Location Argonaut CTC – The Introduction to Survival Course allows cadets to cultivate essential aircrew survival skills. Activities involve practical field training and navigation exercises to enhance survival proficiency.

Completion of Level 3

Air Rifle Marksmanship – 4 Weeks – Location Argonaut CTC – The Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor Course provides cadets an opportunity to further personal marksmanship knowledge and skills, and develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge to perform the duties of an Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor. Activities include marksmanship techniques, instructional techniques, and coaching. Cadets attending this course will also have an opportunity to progress in their marksmanship level qualification.

Drill & Ceremonial Instructor – 4 Weeks – Location Argonaut CTC – The Drill and Ceremonial Instructor Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge to perform the duties of a Drill and Ceremonial Instructor. Activities include advanced drill, instructional techniques and leadership in the conducting of parades and ceremonies.

Fitness & Sports Instructor – 4 Weeks – Location Greenwood CTC – The Fitness and Sports Instructor Course provides cadets an opportunity to further personal fitness and healthy living knowledge and skills, and develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge to perform the duties of a Fitness and Sports Instructor. Activities include personal fitness, healthy living, conducting the Cadet Fitness Assessment, and leading physical activities.

Military Band Musician – 4 Weeks – Location Argonaut CTC – MUST HAVE MUSIC PROFICIENTCY LEVEL 2 – The Military Band Musician Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop music skills to support participation in and / or leading corps / squadron military bands. Activities include music training and band activities such as music theory, music technique, band drill, leadership and performing ensemble music. Cadets attending this course will also have the opportunity to progress in their music proficiency level qualifications.

Advanced Aviation – 4 Weeks – Location Greenwood CTC – The Advanced Aviation Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge required to be an instructor and team leader for aviation activities. Activities include instructional techniques, aviation communication, and meteorology.

Survival Instructor – 4 Weeks – Location Argonaut CTC – Survival Instructor Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge required to perform the duties of a Survival Instructor and team leader for aircrew survival activities. Activities include aircrew survival skills, team and solo survival exercises, aircrew survival exercise operations, instructional technique, and navigation by map and compass.

Glider Pilot – 6-7 Weeks – Location Trenton or St-Jean – The Glider Pilot Training Course is a six- or seven-week training program that results in successful candidates graduating with their Transport Canada Glider Pilot License. Must be 16 years of age by 1 Sep of year of activity participation. Must have completed & passed Qualification Exam to apply.

Completion of Level 4

Power Pilot – 7 weeks – Location TBA – The Power Pilot Training Course is a seven-week training program that results in successful candidates graduating with their Transport Canada Power Pilot License. 17 years of age by 1 Sep of year of activity participation. Must have completed & passed Qualification Exam to apply.
