Here is the information for this week:

Friday 29 Sep 17 at 6:30 PM – Sunday 1 Oct 17 at 3:45 PM: Field Training Exercise

The cadets will be completing their mandatory survival training at the Elmhurst Outdoors group campsite. This is located on the Ganong Road on the Kingston Peninsula. The site is located about a kilometer past the Elmhurst Outdoors lodge (65 Ganong Rd, Erbs Cove, NB E5N 8B2). It is on the same side of the road as the lodge and the 161 Parent Committee sign will be at the end of the driveway. Parents are asked not to enter the driveway to the campsite. Cadets will hike in with their gear. All meals will be provided. A kit list is attached – note that we do have a few sleeping bags available if a cadet does not have one. Dress for the outdoors and the weather (it is supposed to get cold overnight). Directions are also attached. Kit List and Directions

There will be no Band, Drill Team, Marksmanship, or Biathlon this weekend due to the Field Training Exercise

Monday 2 Oct 17 – Flying Scholarship (Ground School Training) – 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM at Simonds High School (527 Office)

Wednesday 4 Oct 17 – Regular Training – 6:20 -9:10 PM at the armoury. Dress for the evening will be t-shirt and tunic

Paperwork – All cadets must return the paperwork to the admin officer (2Lt Kinney) ASAP. This includes enrollment forms, annual validation forms, and detailed health questionnaires. Cadets will not be permitted to attend events (field training, etc) if this paperwork has not been returned.

Fund raising – Bottle Drive: We have a bottle drive scheduled for the morning of Saturday 7 Oct 17. We need as many people with trucks as possible to help us out with collecting bottles. If you have a truck and are available to help us with this please let me know. The number of drivers will help us determine how many neighbourhoods we are able to visit.

Tagging: We will be tagging at the local stores from 12-14 Oct 17. Each cadet is expected to do at least one shift. Cadets can sign up for more than one shift. Funds raised are tracked and an award is given to the top fund raiser each year. A sign-up sheet is available on the bulletin board at the armoury. Sign up early to get the time and location that’s best for you.

Upcoming Events:

– 6-7 Oct 17 – Bottle Drive

– 12-14 Oct 17 – Tagging Fund Raiser

Recruiting – this year we will again be running a “bring a friend” program. All cadets are encouraged to bring a friend who may be interested in joining cadets. If their friend joins and stays over three weeks the cadet who brought the friend will have their name entered into a draw for a prize.

Reminder: If a cadet cannot make it to a Wednesday night/regular event, the cadet should leave a message on the squadron answering machine 632-3215. Please do not e-mail Capt Phinney or post on facebook. This will ensure the admin o gets the message and can mark the cadet as excused.
