Here is the weekly update

Friday: FTX: Drop off at 1800 at Elmhurst Outdoors. Kit list and directions are posted at the bottom of this post. Cadets are encouraged to bring reusable cups/water bottles to help us cut down on waste, and remember, bring warm clothing and footwear!

Sunday: FTX pickup is at 1530.

Monday: Flying Scholarship at Simonds High School 1830 to 2030.

Wednesday: Regular training, dress is t-shirt.

Annual validation forms went home recently, be sure to have them updated and returned as soon as possible. Any new cadets should try to have their paperwork, including birth certificate, provincial health card, or other required ID brought in as soon as possible to avoid missing any training or trips.

Each cadet is required to bring:

  • Hiking boots
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Sweater
  • Toothbrush/ paste
  • 4 – 6 pairs of socks (wool)
  • Warm PJs
  • Mittens/ gloves
  • Warm pants (Three)
  • Undergarments
  • Deodorant
  • Face cloth/Hand towel
  • Soap/hand sanitizer
  • Rain Coat
  • Reusable plastic/metal cup
  • Toque
  • Female personal hygiene items
  • Flashlight
  • Warm Jacket

Cadets are not permitted to bring:

  • Knives
  • Electronics (mp3/cd players, gaming systems, cell phones etc)
  • Weapons
  • Lighters
  • Illegal substances, alcohol, or cigarettes
  • Make-up

Turn Right at the 1st cross street onto Broad St
Continue onto Lower Cove Loop
Continue onto Crown St
Merge onto NB-1 E
Take exit 158 for NB-100 toward Hampton
Turn Left on NB-100 W
Turn Right onto NB-121E
Take third Exit on roundabout NB-121E
Continue on NB-121 E. until route 845 just past Kredl’s Corner Store Turn left onto route 845
Continue on Route 845 until Peters Hill Rd
Turn Right on Peters Hill Rd
Continue on Peters Hill Rd until Ganong Rd
Turn Left on to Ganong Rd
Camp will be on the Right hand side of the road.
161 Parent Committee sign will be at end of driveway.
NO VEHICLES are to enter the camp site.
Cadets will hike in from the road.

Turn left onto Whiting Ln

Sunday: Biathlon and Marksmanship. Still looking for new members. Anyone doing biathlon should remember to bring a water bottle and wear running shoes.

Here is the weekly update

Friday: Band from 1830-2100. Any new members interested in joining the band are welcome to attend.

Sunday: Gliding in Miramichi. The bus departs at 0700, all cadets should be at the Armouries no later than 0645. Bring a lunch that does not need to be re-heated. There are no places to purchase food at the airfield. Bring snacks, water/juice, books, cellphones, tablets, battery packs, etc to entertain yourself while we are there. Supper will be provided and we should be returning to the Armouries by 1900.
Bring jackets and hats!

There will be no Biathlon or Marksmanship due to Gliding.

Wednesday: CO’s Parade, dress is shirt, tie, tunic and ribbons.

Here is the weekly update

Friday: Band from 1830-2100. Any new members interested in joining the band are welcome to attend.

Saturday: Senior Cadet Leadership Weekend. This is for level 4 and 5 cadets, training starts at 0800 on Saturday and wraps up at 1530 on Sunday. Bring a lunch for Saturday, all other meals will be provided. Bring a change of clothes, stuff for sleeping, shower, deodorant, etc. Make sure you have sports gear for Sunday’s team building activity.

Sunday: Biathlon and Marksmanship. 1800-2100 at the Armouries, all returning biathlon team members and any one interested in joining or just seeing what biathlon is are welcome to attend. Bring your sports gear. Anyone interested in trying marksmanship is welcome to attend.

Monday: Flying Scholarship 1830-2030. Any level 3+ or 15 years and up that are interested in applying for the Glider or Power courses this year or next should attend. Classes take place at Simonds High School as we will once again be training jointly with 527. Those planning to apply and write the entrance exams this year should speak to Lt. Cameron about getting an FTGU.

Wednesday: Sports Night, dress is sports gear.
Senior applying for parade positions should be prepared to arrive in uniform, with shirt, tie and ribbons. As soon as the interview schedule is available, it will be provided to those getting interviewed. Bring your sports gear.

Here is the weekly update

Friday: Band from 1830-2100. Any new members interested in joining the band are welcome to attend.

Sunday: Battle of Britain Parade. Cadets should show up for 1000. We will meet in the Irving parking lot on Charlotte St behind the Admiral Beatty building. The parade should end around 1200 and there will be refreshments served afterwards, provided by the parents committee. If the forecast is calling for rain, expect the parade to be moved to the Barrack Green Armouries, we will post here and on Facebook if that happens.

Biathlon. 1800-2100 at the Armouries, all returning biatlon team members and any one interested in joining or just seeing what biathlon is are welcome to attend.

You should plan to bring or wear your uniform that night and have a written narrative prepared explaining why you are interested in having a parade position along with what you would bring to that role. We will meet next Wednesday to get a list of those who will be interviewed.

Weekly Update May 30 – June 5 19

Here are the updates for the week:

Friday: No Training

Saturday: 1800-2100: ACR Practice. Dress is civilian clothing. We will be doing some more practice for ACR. Bring your boots and polishing kits.

Sunday: 0900-1630: ACR! Cadets should arrive no later than 0900 in civilian clothing for ACR practice. Bring all your uniforms parts with you, and your polishing kit. The unit will provide lunch and water.
Parents and guests: You should be seated no later than 1330.
ACR is being held at the Barrack Green Armouries.

Tuesday: 1800-2100: Awards Banquet. Cadets should be in full uniform, but with a bow tie instead of your regular tie. We still have some left in supply. You do not need to wear your wedge.
Parents and guests: You may wear what you wish.
The dinner is taking place at the 69 Branch Legion, located at 714 Wilson St (Behind the old west side liquor store).

Wednesday: 1830-2000: Summer training info session for parents and cadets. If it is your first summer going away or you have any questions, we will be available to answer you questions.
Level 3/4s that still have to write the aviation test or teach your class, Lt. Cameron will be available.

– July – August: Summer Courses!

FTX Note: Friday 1800 Senior cadets arrive (level 4/5s) to setup and do taskings.
Saturday 0900 All other cadets march into the site.

Location is here (click link), right across from 850 Campbell Rd. Do not use #850’s driveway to turn around and do not enter the FTX site in your own vehicles.

Here are the updates for the week:

Friday: Drill Team 1800-1900 followed by Band 1900-2130. This is the last practice prior to ACR, please show up.

Sunday: No Training

Wednesday: ACR Practice. Dress is civilian clothing, bring your boots and polishing kits as we will be working on your boots.
Summer Training offers are due back.

Upcoming events:

– June 7-9: Spring FTX
June Ottawa Trip!

ACR Practice will be taking place on Saturday June 1st from 1800-2100.
On June 2nd, cadets are to arrive at 0900 in civilian clothing with all your uniforms parts. We will be doing some extra practice and setting up a few displays. The squadron will provide lunch. Parents should be seated by 1330.

Awards Banquet: Cadets are to dress in uniform, with dress shirt and a black bow tie. We have bow ties in supply available for $10. No wedge.
Parents, you may wear whatever you like.

Wednesday: Co’s Parade. Dress is dress shirt, but no tunic or tie. Summer dress is in effect, you should still bring and wear a coat, but do not need to wear your tunic.
Please bring back your summer training offers as soon as you can.
We also need your Awards Banquet forms back ASAP so we can order the meals.

Cadets: Keep working on your uniforms, we are seeing improvements!
