Here is the weekly update

Friday: Drill Team 1830-2100. Any new members interested in joining the Drill Team are welcome to attend.

Saturday: PPS and GPS Exams. This note only applies to those cadets signed up to write the exams. Cadets must be in uniform with collared shirt, tie and tunic.

Exam Location: Simonds High School
Date/Time: Saturday 11 Jan 20 – 1000 hrs (Sunday 12 Jan 20 – 1000 alternate weather date)

Time allowed is 2 hours. Applicants must have the following equipment:
GPS: Pencil and Eraser
PPS: Pencil, Eraser and E6B or Jeppesen Computer (If you need a flight computer, please see Lt. Cameron on Friday night during Drill Team Practice.

Sunday: Marksmanship, Biathlon and Flight Sim from 1800-2100.

Wednesday: Regular Training, dress is t-shirt. It is winter, be sure you have a coat.

Upcoming Events:
– 15 Jan 20: First night back after the holidays. Training scheduled for Jan 8 20 will take place.

No training due to poor road conditions in and around Saint John, and the continuing snow fall and freezing temperatures this evening, training is postponed.
All scheduled training classes will be pushed back 1 week.

Sunday: Marksmanship, Biathlon and Flight Sim from 1800-2100.

Wednesday: Squadron Holiday Mess Dinner. This will take place at the 69 Branch Legion on the west side. Dress for cadets is uniform, with a white shirt, no wedge and black bow tie. Bow ties will be available at the door. If you do not have a white dress shirt, your blue cadet dress shirt will be acceptable.

Here is the weekly update

Friday: Band from 1830-2100. Any new members interested in joining the Band are welcome to attend.

Saturday: 2019 Family Portrait and Christmas Open House @ the Barrack Green Armoury.
Family Portraits – 10am to 4pm
Open House – 11am to 2pm. Band members will be playing christmas songs. Dress is uniform with shirt and tie.
Bake Sale – EACH CADET is asked to supply 6 to 12 individually wrapped items worth $1 each (ex: cupcake, specialty decorated cookie, 2 regular cookies, large brownie or square, 2 pieces of fudge or chocolates, bag of caramel corn, etc..)

Sunday: Marksmanship, Biathlon and Flight Sim from 1800-2100. We are also looking for cadets interested in doing model building.

Monday: Flying Scholarship. For glider and power candidates at Simonds High School between 1830 and 2030.

Wednesday: Regular Training. Dress is t-shirt. Reminder, it is now the winter season and you should have a coat.

Senior cadets applying for International Exchange, Power Pilot and Glider Pilot scholarship should have all their paperwork in in by now.

Annual validation forms went home recently, be sure to have them updated and returned as soon as possible. Any new cadets should try to have their paperwork, including birth certificate, provincial health card, or other required ID brought in as soon as possible to avoid missing any training or trips. There are 7 outstanding annual validation forms, these need to be in by November 30th in order to continue training.

Wednesday: Sports Night. Dress is civies with running shoes. We will be doing the beep test. Be sure to bring a water bottle, preferably filled.

Here is the weekly update

Friday: Band from 1830-2100. Any new members interested in joining the Band are welcome to attend.

Saturday: Biathlon Zone Competition. All team members participating should be at Elmhurst Outdoors by 0800. Dress to be outside, bring water and a lunch. Competition should end around 1300.
Band. Meet at the Armouries between 1230 and 1530 for final practice and decorating of your instruments.
Santa claus Parade. Meet at the back of the Shopper Drug Mart parking lot on Crown St. before 1700. We are entrant 41 and will be lining up in lane 4. All cadets must dress warmly, expected temperatures will be between -3 and -6. Cadets not in the band will be either carrying the banner, in a flag party or marching behind the band. Parents, cadets can be picked up by the recycling bins by Subway at Lansdowne Plaza after the parade.

Sunday: 403 Squadron tour. Bus will depart the Armouries at 0800, so be there by 0745. Lunch will be provided at the base mess. We should be back at the Armouries by 1400.

Monday: Remembrance Day. We participate in the parade in Grand Bay-Westfield. Dress is Shirt, Tie, Tunic and Medals. The parade is held at the River Valley Middle School and all cadets should be there by 1000 and can be picked up at 1200. Make sure you eat breakfast and drink some water. Link to location here.

Wednesday: Regular Training. Dress is t-shirt. We are now in winter dress, you should have a jacket with you.

Here is the weekly update, and happy Halloween.

Friday: No Band or Drill team. Band see below info regarding travel and kit.
Cadets may travel in civilian clothing if they wish, but encouraged to travel in uniform so that you can make sure all uniform parts are present, and limit what needs to be packed.

1500 hrs – Pick-up cadets at George Street Armoury George Street Miramichi, NB
1800 hrs – Drop off cadets (161 & 527) at Barrack Green Armoury 60 Broadview Ave Saint John, NB

Important Information:

Training will take place at the George Street Armoury in Miramichi. Timings will be 0845 – 1600 hrs on Saturday, 2 Nov 19 and 0830 -1500 hrs on Sunday, 3 Nov 19. Dress will be C3E (t-shirt and tunic) for cadets (staff cadets may wear shirt/tie or gun shirt in place of the t-shirt) and 3C for military members on Saturday and civilian clothing on Sunday.

Escorts will be responsible for supervising the cadets on Saturday evening and ensuring activities are available. There will be staff cadets onsite to assist. You could suggest your cadets bring movies or board games. Sports can also be an option.

Kit List:

  • Uniform with cadet parka (civilian jacket if cadet has no parka)
  • Appropriate civilian clothing and footwear
  • Toiletries
  • Towel/facecloth
  • Shower sandals
  • Sleeping bag (cadets will be sleeping on the armoury floor)
  • Pillow
  • Musical instrument
  • Music folder/pencil
  • Required medications

Saturday: PO513 Workshops for level 5 cadets. You should arrive at HMCS Brunswicker for 0745 and plan to be there until 1600. Dress is Shirt, Tie and Tunic. Lunch will be provided.

Sunday: Biathlon, Marksmanship and Flight Sim from 1800-2100.
Ground Search and Rescue info below, cadets are expected to arrive between 0830 and 0900. The event should end around 1300, and lunch will be provided. The event is taking place at the Wells Recreation Park, 75 French Village Rd. See Google maps.

The following items are required for the cadets and staff that will be part of the Field Teams: Personal clothing / items:
– Waterproof boots or hiking boots with ankle support (NO running shoes or rubber boots)
– Pants that cover all of the leg (NO shorts).
– Long sleeved shirt  Waterproof jacket
– A pair of gloves
– Hat or baseball cap
– Small back pack
– Water Bottle

Notes:
1. If possible, cadets are asked to wear bright colour clothing.
2. If possible, clothing items should be light and tear resistant.
3. For SAFETY reasons, members or cadets will not be allowed to be field deployed if their clothing is not adequate. Some positions are not field deployable.

Wednesday: Halloween Party. Cadets are encouraged to wear a costume, and there are prizes for the best ones. No masks that conceal your face. Parents, a letter went home requesting snacks for the evening be brought in, if you have any questions about what to bring, please message us on Facebook.
