Today marked Captain Robert Meunier’s last day as Commanding Officer for our unit.

On behalf of the officers, staff, volunteers, sponsors and of course the cadets, We would like to thank Capt. Meunier for 4 years of great leadership, building the squadron, encouraging fun, learning and personal development. We wish you a good transition into your new role as Commanding Officer of 1691 R.C.A.C.S. Bravo Zulu Sir.

With this change of command, we welcome Captain Leigh Cameron as our new CO. Below is his biography.

Captain Leigh Cameron has served with 161 Air Cadet Squadron in a variety of roles over the past 9 years, including training officer and deputy commanding officer. He began his career as a cadet in 1991 with 299 Yarmouth Lions in Yarmouth NS, graduating in 1998 as Warrant Officer Second Class, having completed both the glider pilot course and flying scholarship course. Captain Cameron moved to Saint John after graduation and started volunteering with 161 Air Cadets as a civilian instructor for 3 years, before leaving to pursue work opportunities.

In 2013, Captain Cameron was recruited back to 161 CK Beveridge Squadron to assist with the flying training portion of the program. Captain Cameron joined the CIC in 2014 and has held the positions of instructor, ground school instructor, assistant training officer, training officer and deputy commanding officer.

In civilian life, Captain Cameron has a successful career in information technology. He also volunteers with Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and spends his free time tinkering with and flying his 1946 Erco Ercoupe. He and his wife Tanya live in Grand Bay-Westfield and are proud parents to one daughter Zoey and one son Calum.
