Model Building, RC Flying, Flight Simulation – 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Wednesday 2 May 18
Regular Training – 6:20 – 9:10 PM. Dress is t-shirt and tunic. Instructors should check the trg schedule. All communication survey and CTC offers of participation “camp forms” must be signed and returned. If you were not there to receive a survey, a copy is attached: Communication survey.

– Mon 1 May 18 – Bowling for band members. 7-9pm at Fairview Lanes.
– Thu 3 – Sat 5 May 18 – Tagging Fund Raiser (All cadets must sign up for at least one shift) – See the attached list. Cadets will be asked to sign up this week.
– Sat 26 May 18 – ACR Practice and Set-up
– Sun 27 May 18 – Annual Ceremonial Review Parade (Mandatory – friends and welcome are welcome to attend)

Weekly Update (19-25 Apr 18) Band and Drill Competition

Here is this week’s update:

Friday 20 Apr 18
Drill Team – 6:00-7:00 PM at the armoury
Band – 7:00 – 9:30 PM at the armoury (Those assisting with props are asked to attend)

Saturday 21 Apr 18
Provincial Band and Drill Competition – Cadets will meet at the armoury at 6:20 AM. Dress is full uniform, shirt, tie and tunic with Cadet parka. Cadets will be transported to the competition site in Gagetown by bus. Lunch and supper will be provided (box lunches) but cadets are encouraged to bring a water bottle. Cadets are expected to depart Gagetown at 5:00 PM and return to Saint John around 6:30 PM. We will have cadets call when they are on their way home. Anyone wishing to watch the competition is welcome to meet us at L-33 at CFB Gagetown. To get to Bldg L-33: Enter the main gate of the base (Tilley Ave) and go to the end of the street. Turn right onto Ganong St. L-33 will be the first large building on the left. There should be lots of busses and potentially cadets in front of the building. The competition begins at 8:00 AM. Our band will likely perform after 9:00 AM based on the current order.

Friday 13 Apr 18
Drill Team – 6:00-7:00 PM at the armoury
Band – 7:00 – 9:30 PM at the armoury

7:00 PM – Marksmanship team will be departing for CFB Gagetown from the armoury. They should return on Sunday evening around 6:00 PM.

Saturday 14 Apr 18
Band Practice – 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the Samuel de Champlain School (67 Ragged Point Rd). Bring your instrument, music, water bottle, and a lunch.8
Drill Team Practice – 4:00 – 5:00 PM at Samuel de Champlain School

Sunday 15 Apr 18
Model Building, RC Flying, Flight Simulation and Band (Prop building) – 6:00 – 9:00 PM Not there will be no range set up this week.

All AIR CADET LEAGUE TICKETS MUST be returned this week! Our sponsor has graciously offered to sell some tickets for us so if you have any unsold tickets at home, please bring them in on Friday evening (armoury).

Drill Team: 6:00 – 7:00 PM at the armoury
Band: 7:00 – 9:30 PM at the armoury (Bring any red, yellow, or white bottle caps you may have)

Saturday 24 Mar 18:
Steak and Stein Fund Raiser – Dinner and auction at the Saint John Marina. Dinner starts at 7:00 PM but aution items will be available for viewing starting at 6:30 PM. If you forgot to purchase your tickets/indicate you were coming, please let us know. This is an adult only event.

Sunday 25 Mar 18
Recreational Marksmanship, Biathlon, Model Building, RC Flying, Flight Simulation, and Band (Prop building): 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the armoury. All cadets are welcome to participate in marksmanship again.

Drill Team: 6:00 – 7:00 PM at the armoury
Band: 7:00 – 9:30 PM at the armoury

Sunday 18 Mar 18
Zone Marksmanship Competition: 7:45 AM – 5:00 PM at HMCS Brunswicker. Lunch will be provided but feel free to bring water/snacks. Good luck to the team: FSgt Luttrell, Sgt Hamilton, FCpl Hamilton, FCpl Abujjayyab, and Cpl Cross as well as their coaches WO2 Colwell and Capt Hutchinson!

Swimming: 1:15 PM – 4:30 PM at the Saint John Aquatic Centre. All cadets are welcome to attend. Ensure you are there at 1:15 so that the squadron can pay for your admission.

Model Building, RC Flying, Flight Simulation, and Band (Prop building): 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the armoury. Note that there will be no marksmanship or biathlon this evening.

Preliminary effective speaking competition – Participating cadets must bring their prepared speeches.
Sponsoring Committee Meeting – 6:30 PM in the portable classroom – New members are welcome

Cadets are now selling Air Cadet League Tickets. Each cadet was given one book of 10 tickets. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. If cadets would like another book, see a member of the sponsoring committee at the beginning or end of the night.

Steak & Stein Fund Raising Dinner – The sponsoring committee is holding a dinner in support of squadron on Saturday 24 Mar 18 at the Saint John Marina. Tickets are $25. The event will also include a silent auction and toonie toss. This is a 19+ event. Tickets are now available online at https://161aircadets.ca/fund-raising/. The squadron is also looking for donations for the auction. If you have any business contacts you would be able to give a donation request letter to, we have some available in the office. Marksmanship Team Only: 6:00 – 9:00 PM: Note that from now until the marksmanship competition (18 Mar 18), only those cadets identified by Capt Hutchinson as on the marksmanship team will be eligible to participate in marksmanship this Sunday. Other activities will return after March Break.
