Good luck to Sgt Hamilton who will be competing in the Provincial Marksmanship Competition and Sgt MacIntyre who will be competing in the Provincial Effective Speaking Competition this weekend.

Here are the updates for the week:

Friday:
NO DRILL TEAM
NO BAND PRACTICE

6:45 PM – Senior cadets attending the C7 Marksmanship training weekend/competitions in Gagetown will meet at the armoury and will be transported to Gagetown via bus/mini-van. Cadets will be wearing field training uniform in Gagetown but should bring layers of clothing to wear underneath as the range is outdoors. Bring personal toiletries, towel, shower shoes, etc. Cadets will be returning early Sunday afternoon (approximately 1:30 PM – TBC).

Sunday:
1:00 PM – Squadron history restoration – Parents, cadets, sponsors, staff, and alumni are welcome to help with the project. This will take place at the armoury. If you have any squadron photographs or memorabilia from years past, please let us know.

6:00 – 9:00 PM – Marksmanship, model building, RC flying and flight simulation

Wednesday:
6:20 – 9:10 PM – CO’s Parade – Dress is shirt, tie, and tunic
7:30 PM – There will be a parent information meeting for the parents of all cadets who will be attending the trip to Halifax on 20-22 May 17. All permission slips should be returned.

Many cadets received offers of participation for summer training courses. Please sign these forms and return to the squadron as soon as possible.

Cadets have also received permission slips for the trip to Halifax on 20-22 May 17. Please return these to the squadron as soon as possible. There are 35 available spots. There will be an important parent information session about the trip on 26 Apr 17 around 1930 hrs following our CO’s parade. Parents of cadets attending the trip must attend.

Duke of Edinburgh – Interested cadets were given information and registration forms at an information session last night. The program is open to cadets at least 13 ½. The program complements cadet training well and involes community service, physical fitness, skills, and an adventurous journey. Capt Dickison who works with 1691 Army Cadets will be helping us through the program. Cadets interested in joining must return their form and a $30 registration fee on Sunday evening or next Wednesday. Thanks to LAC Springthorpe for volunteering to sell league tickets last Saturday with our sponsor 250 Wing. Thanks to FSgt Caissie who represented the squadron along with Capt MacDonald and some sponsoring committee members at the Community Coordinating Committee meeting on Saturday.

Here are the updates for the week:

Friday:
NO DRILL TEAM
6:30 – 9:00 PM – Band practice

Saturday:
9:00 AM – 2:00 PM – C7 familiarization training for senior cadets (level 4+) who will be attending C7 training in Gagetown. Dress is civilian clothing. Bring a lunch.

10:00 AM – 6:00 PM – Our sponsor, 250 Wing will be selling League Tickets at Lancaster Mall. They are looking for a few cadets to help with this. If you are available for a 2 hour shift (10-12, 12-2, 2-4, 4-6), please let Capt Phinney know. Dress will be uniform (shirt, tie, and tunic). Money raised will go towards the cadet’s fund raising total.

Sunday:
1:00 – 9:00 PM – Squadron history restoration project: Cadets, parents, alumni, and staff are invited to help this Sunday as we sort through 75 years of photos, newspaper clippings, etc. The plan is to have all photos and items placed in scrapbooks for this year’s ACR. You don’t have to stay for the entire day but if you are staying all day, we will feed you.

Here are the updates for the week:

Friday:
6:00 – 7:00 PM – Drill team
7:00 – 9:30 PM – Band practice

Saturday:
6:00 – 8:00 PM – Bowling at Fairview Lanes (87 Lansdowne Av, Saint John) for the entire squadron. Dress is civilian clothing and there will be pizza! This is part of the cadets physical training activities.

Sunday:
7:45 AM – Zone marksmanship competition at HMCS Brunswicker – Good luck to FSgt Colwell, Sgt Luttrell, Sgt Hamilton, and LAC Hamilton! Dress is civilian clothing and lunch will be provided.

6:00 – 9:00 PM – Recreational marksmanship, model building, RC flying, and flight simulation

Wednesday:
6:30 – 9:00 PM: CO’s Parade – Dress is shirt, tie, and tunic

6:30 – 9:00 PM – Effective Speaking Competition at Simonds High School (meet at the pool doors). Dress for the week is t-shirt and tunic or shirt, tie, and tunic for the speakers. Speakers are Sgt Luttrell, Sgt MacIntyre, and LAC Eldridge.

Thanks to everyone participated in, helped out with, or donated bottles for our bottle drive last weekend. Despite our low numbers, it was a success!

Here are the updates for this week:

Friday:
No band or drill team this week.

Sunday:

Senior Trip to Quebec/Ottawa – cadets who are scheduled to go will be meeting at the armoury at 6:30 AM on Sunday morning. All forms must be returned prior to departure. Cadets should be wearing their cadet parka and are permitted to bring a duffle bag, bookbag, and garment bag (for uniform) – space on the bus is limited. Bring a lunch. Kit List. Parents wishing to get a hold of the cadets during the trip can call Capt Phinney’s cell phone. We will return Friday around 5:00 PM.

No optional training – marksmanship, model building, RC flying, or flight simulation

Wednesday:
No training during March Break

Congratulations to our band and drill team for their excellent performance last weekend at the provincial competition!

Here are the updates for this week:

Friday:
No band or drill team this week.

6:00 – 9:00 PM – Bottle Drive Fund Raiser – Delivering flyers/bottle drop off. The senior cadets and other volunteer cadets will be delivering flyers in the Champlain Heights neighbourhood. Cadets are to meet in the parking lot of Champlain Heights School (located on the traffic circle on Champlain Dr). Dress is civilian clothing with cadet parka. Cadets will call their parents if finished before 9:00 PM.
If you have bottles to drop off, there will be someone at the trailer parked outside the armoury collecting bottles.

Saturday:
9:00 AM – 12:30 PM – Bottle Drive Fund Raiser – The senior cadets and other volunteer cadets will be collecting refundables in the Champlain Heights neighbourhood. Cadets are to meet in the parking lot of Champlain Heights School (located on the traffic circle on Champlain Dr). Dress is civilian clothing with cadet parka. Cadets will call their parents if finished before 12:00 PM.
If you have bottles to drop off, there will be someone at the trailer parked outside the armoury collecting bottles.


Sunday:
No skiing/snowshoeing this weekend due to the projected rain. We are going to try rescheduling this event for Sunday, March 12.

Wednesday:
6:20 – 9:10 PM – Regular training – dress is t-shirt and tunic. All cadets should have their parkas/winter jackets. The will be a preliminary competition for those participating in effective speaking. Have your speeches ready. Please return league tickets.

Fund Raising:
– Cadets were given Air Cadet League tickets to sell. All cadets are expected to sell at least one book. Books have 12 tickets. Tickets sell for $2 or 3 for $5. Cadets should return at least $20 for each book depending on how the tickets were sold. Cadets must return any unsold tickets to the squadron by 1 Mar 17.

Here are the updates for this week:

Friday:
6:00 – 7:00 PM – Drill team practice
7:00 – 9:30 PM – Band practice

Saturday:
6:50 AM – Band and Drill Team Competition – Meet at the armoury in full uniform: shirt, tie, tunic (ribbons), and parka. Bring a water bottle. Cadets are scheduled to return home at 6:30 PM but may be earlier depending on the length of routines. Cadets will call on their way home. Lunch and supper will be provided.

The competition is scheduled to start at 8:00 AM. Our band is currently scheduled to go 9th and the drill team 14th. Parents are welcome to watch the competition which takes place at CFB Gagetown – building L33 (drive straight onto the base, turn right at the end of the street, and L33 is the first building on the left).

Sunday:
6:00 – 9:00 PM – Biathlon, Marksmanship, Model building, RC Flying, and Flight simulation (armoury).

Wednesday:
6:20 – 9:10 PM – CO’s Parade and guest speaker (dress is shirt, tie, tunic, and parka). All cadets are asked to bring civilian winter boots, snow pants, mitts, and hat as they will be going outside after the parade.
